I have received the first issues of ⟨your publications — the⟩ the books, booklets and leaflets containing my writings, as well as the statements concerning the object and plan of ⟨your entreprise⟩ the Free Age Press. ⟨It was always my wish that⟩ Your publications are ⟨combining⟩ very neat ⟨ness and⟩ attractive ⟨ness with⟩ and — which is most important for me — very cheap and therefore quite accessible to ⟨readers of restricted means⟩, the great public the ⟨workman⟩ English speaking working people. ⟨By publishing in this way you realise my most heartfelt desire to be read and judged by the ⟨is the most heartfelt desire of my life⟩ great public — the working labouring man and of submitting my thoughts to his decisive judgement⟩. I thank you ⟨for this⟩ and all the participators in this work ⟨for this from all my heart⟩.
⟨I cannot here help expressing my regret that I have in the past spent too much time in satisfying the tastes of the smaller polished and perverted section of the public to which I belong myself and that too late in life I have begun to address myself to the reader who everywhere represents nine tent[h]s of mankind. It is therefore with special pleasure that I would like to participate in your farther publications by such ⟨new⟩ writings as I would yet produce⟩.
